Free Paint Shop Pro Source Files
Our Paint Shop Pro Source Files should be compatible with Paint Shop Pro 9 through Paint Shop Pro XI and are from our private collection. We've decided to share these with everyone to learn from and to enjoy. These source files can be a great opportunity for teachers, students, developers, or anyone interested in seeing and learning hands on how we've created some of our Psp graphics.
Free for both personal and commercial use. Do what you want to with them we don't care, but you may not claim copyright to them.
There are only two skills you need to master in order to create near Photoshop quality graphics, with ANY compatible graphics program.
- Exercise your eyes. The more you practice looking, the better you get at seeing. Learn to "see" what is being done, or has been done to the image itself. Is it a blur? A drop shadow?
- Learn to duplicate (or create the same effect) what you "see" with the tools that your graphics program has.
"You'll be able to see first hand how we create graphics without the use of additional third party software, plug-ins, or filters. Graphic designers don't just put images together, that comes later. First, we have to create them."

Quick Help and Faq's
- Q. Why are you giving away your secrets?
- A. There isn't any secrets. Only creativity. We would like to think that we're doing our best to help maintain a market for Paint Shop Pro, so that it doesn't just become a part of our past, but at the very least secures our future!
- Q. What's the best way to study these files?
- A. The best way is to start with the first group or layer in the Layers palette and start hiding the individual layers by clicking on the Visibility Toggle (the eye icon) one at a time working your way down through the layers. When you're finished with the first group, turn on the next group and repeat the process.
As you do this watch the image at the same time. You may need to turn the same layer on/off a couple of times to notice the change. You can also select the Raster Deform Tool (D)
(or the Pick Tool (K) in Psp X or Psp XI). This will help you see where some of the smaller pieces were placed. Take your time and see if you can figure out how it was created (was the image blurred, opacity turned down on the layer.. etc). Remember there are multiple ways to create the same images, what you see with our source files is just one way, or better put "our way".
- Q. Windows XP cannot "see" the files within the zip file, they appears empty and Windows XP can't extract these files either.
- A. The compressed files were created with Winzip 9.x, using an encryption and compression scheme that isn't compatible with other older archiving programs, including previous versions of Winzip. You may wish to try:
- Installing another zip program onto your computer.
- Installing a newer version of WinZip
- Q. I can't download the files from this site. When I click the image or download link, the screen pops up, then immediately disappears. Why won't the files download?
- A. You're probably using Windows XP, which has default settings that prevent you from downloading documents automatically. The only way around this problem is to disable XP's default browser settings and allow it to automatically download documents:
- In your IE browser, click Tools | Internet Options
- Go to the Security tab, then click the Custom Level button.
- Under the Downloads section of the list, look for Automatic prompting for file downloads and click Enable.
- Click OK.
